APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When encountering a decimal divide exception , the incorrect
statement number is given in error message CEE3211S. This can
occur when compiling with ARCH(10) and either OPT(1) or OPT(2).
The failing instruction is a DP, generated for a DIVIDE
statement; but error message points to a MOVE statement.

Local fix

  • Compile with OPT(0) or with ARCH(9).

    ****************************************************************
The compiler was associating an incorrect line number with a DP
instruction, causing divisions by zero messages to display an
    incorrect line number.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was fixed to use the correct line number for DP
instructions so that the runtime message has the correct line
    number.
