APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • JMS is used by batchManagement to send job messages from
dispatcher to executor. JMS supports specifying a priority
and a delivery delay for those messages. The batch externals
don't provide a way to specify those values. This makes it
impossible to prioritize batch jobs relative to each other
on the work queue or submit a job for execution later.

JMS is used by batchManagement to send job messages from
dispatcher to executor. JMS supports specifying a priority and a
delivery delay for those messages. The batch externals don't
provide a way to specify those values. This makes it impossible
to prioritize batch jobs relative to each other on the work
queue or submit a job for execution later.

Problem conclusion

  • The job parameter com_ibm_ws_batch_message_priority can be used
to specify a priority (0-9, with highest priority being 9) which
will be used as the JMS message priority. The job parameter
com_ibm_ws_batch_message_deliveryDelay can be used to specify a
delay time, in milliseconds, to be provided to JMS as the
    delivery delay.
