PI86022: CLEARQUEST ATTACHMENTS 2.x PACKAGE - CAN'T CALL METHOD "SIZE" ONAN UNDEFINED VALUE ERROR when FTP server unavailable on updates

Error description

  • When using Attachments 2.x package, an external server is
    available (typically FTP), after initial attachments are made,
    and attempting to perform an action on the record, attaching
    another set of attachment(s), the following error will occur:
    
    Error:
    CRMUD0082E Execution of a hook failed during the action Modify.
    It was the ACTION_VALIDATION hook attached to the Defect
    "TEST00001109". The reason for the failure was: Can't call
    method "size" on an undefined value at main::wpr_Validation line
    8483.
    
    Steps to Reproduce the error:
    1. Open any ClearQuest client
    2. Login to a Schema where you have the ClearQuest Attachments
    2.2 Package applied.
    3. In the "AXPAttachmentControl" record, we have the "Disable
    transfer to external storage", leave it unchecked and we have a
    bogus/invalid Server Name defined in the "Server Name" field (to
    simulate an unavailable FTP Server).
    4. Set a value in the "max. Attachment File Size" in bytes
    (Eg.:83886080 - 80 Mb)
    5. Submit a record with an attachment, or modify an existing
    record to now have an attachment(s).
    6. Modify the existing record with attachment(s) and attempt to
    add one or more additional attachments.
    7. Save.
    Error will occur.  Remove "new" attachments, and save will
    succeed.
    

Local fix

  • Temporary workaround:
    Backup all attachments of a particular record.
    Remove all attachments.
    Add back all attachments + any new attachments.
    Save.
