    ****************************************************************
A web service is active in CICS using the UTF-16 support. A
message is sent from this web service containing a lowercase
thorn character (x'00FE'). DFHPIII checks the data for special
characters. It detects the x'FE' byte and incorrectly decides
that it is a unicode byte order mark (BOM). Message DFHPI1010
gets issued and the XML generation fails.

The same problem also exists for JSON web services.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPIII and DFHPIJG have been changed to ignore the x'FE' within
UTF-16 application data when generating an XML or JSON message.
