PI83064: ABENDC03 IEAVTSKT X'706' RUNNING DFR WITH IMS V15

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ABENDSC03 occurs in IEAVTSKT near x'706' running DFR under IMS
  V15. The SC03 is due to DFR not closing the secondary WADS.
  The ABEND occurs under these conditions:
   -  DFR runs under IMS V15
   -  WADS mode is dual
   -  Both WADS (primary and secondary) were not closed properly
      before running DFR.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IMS DEDB Fast Recovery(DFR) terminates  *
  *                      with ABEND SC03 ( ABENDC03 ) after its  *
  *                      recovery has been completed.            *
  *                      This problem occurs when the following  *
  *                      conditions are met:                     *
  *                      - DFR runs with IMS Version 15          *
  *                      - Dual WADS environment                 *
  *                      - Secondary WADS which was in use when  *
  *                        IMS failed was not closed properly    *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *
  ****************************************************************
  IMS DEDB Fast Recovery(DFR) terminates with ABEND SC03
  ( ABENDC03 ) after its recovery has been completed.
  This problem occurs when the following conditions are met:
  - DFR runs with IMS Version 15
  - Dual WADS environment
  - Secondary WADS which was in use when IMS failed was not
    closed properly
  The cause of problem is that DFR does not close secondary WADS
  and frees its Access method Control Block(ACB) if secondary
  WADS was not properly closed before running DFR.
  Data Facility Product (DFP) attempts to close secondary WADS
  after DFR process, but ACB has been already freed.
  As a result, DFR terminates with ABEND SC03.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFR has been modified to close secondary WADS when secondary
  WADS was not closed properly.  Also, DFR has been modified to
  issue a new message DFR3253W ( MSGDFR3253W ) when it detects
  that WADS was not closed properly.
