PI83011: DFS2469W TRANSACTION REJECTED ; WRONG PASSWORD ISSUED INSTEAD OF PASSWORD HAS BEEN REVOKED MESSAGE AFTER SEVERAL TRIES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer  reported that once the password has been revoked ,
  IMS sends the same message  DFS2469W 12:35:14 TRANSACTION
  REJECTED ; WRONG PASSWORD no matter how many attempts.
  The customer has to cancel the session and tries to log in
  again - then gets the message at sign on DFS2467 12:39:25
  USERID HAS BEEN REVOKED . IMS is now using VERIFYX  to reverify
  the password it will revoked once user tries many times. A
  change will be made to issue a REVOKED message on the
  transaction screen when password is revoked.

  With password reverification enabled (RVFY=Y), a signed-on
  user failed password reverification numerous times due to an
  invalid passord when attempting to enter an IMS transaction.
  
  Each time, IMS issued message DFS2469W indicating that an
  incorrect password was entered:
  DFS2469W TRANSACTION REJECTED; WRONG PASSWORD RC=40.
  
  Eventually, RACF revoked the userid due to an excessive
  number of failed reverification attempts.
  
  However, subsequent reverification attempts returned the
  same DFS2469W RC=40 error.  It was not apparent to the
  end-user from this message that the userid had been revoked.

Problem conclusion

• IMS has been modified to recognize that the userid has
  been revoked during password reverification, and to
  display 'USERID REVOKED' text in message DFS2469W.
  
  DFSCAUT0 has been modified to detect that the RACF rejection
  is due to the userid being revoked, and set new code 44.
  
  DFSCIOB0 has been modified to issue 'USERID REVOKED' text
  for message DFS2469W RC=44.
