Error description

  • There is a timing window that can cause an abendDC3 RC 03080002
after a Modify RESUMELISTENERS is done. The issue is when a
new connection is being accepted and a new accept is issued on
the listener socket right around the same time as the Modify
PAUSELISTENERS, the new accept can fail. In response to an
accept failure, a repeating 15 second timer to reconnect is
started (with the idea that there is a TCP/IP problem and we
need to retry the accept at a later time when TCP/IP recovers).
In this case, however, TCP/IP is fine since the listener
socket was being closed by the Modify PAUSELISTENERS. 15
seconds later the timer fires, and since there is not a TCP/IP
problem, it reactivates the listener. When the Modify
RESUMELISTENERS is done later on, the abendDC3 RC 03080002
occurs because the listener is already active with an accept on
    it.

Problem conclusion

  • Updated the stop code to not create a timer when a modify
    pauselisteners has been issued.
