APAR status

Error description

  • If a program issues a Synchronous Callout (ICAL) and there is no
    Client available to handle the callout (no outstanding Resume
    TPIPE) then the program must wait for the full timeout value.
    It would be a performance enhancement to allow the ICAL to
    timout immediately if there is no Client to accept the callout.

  • There is no local fix for this problem.

    When a DL/I ICAL call was issued from an IMS application and
    there was no active Resume TPIPE from IMS Connect, the ICAL
    call was suspended until timeout was triggered. During this
    time, the IMS dependent region sending the ICAL call was in a
    wait state.
    

Problem conclusion

  •  DFSYSCP0 was enhanced to reject the ICAL call if there is no
    
     active Resume TPIPE from IMS Connect.
