PI79769: MQ: QLOAD COUNTS FOR MESSAGES AND BYTES ARE INCORRECT AFTER APPLYING UI39743 17/06/19 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• For MQ V8, SupportPac MS03 was integrated into the product as
  the IBM MQ Queue load / unload utility.  For z/OS, the utility
  is available as load module CSQUDMSG in SCSQLOAD with QLOAD as
  an alias. Sample JCL is available as CSQ4QLOD in SCSQPROC.
  
  The output sometimes has unexpected values for the Messages and
  Bytes counts, e.g.:
  
  Read    - Files:   0
     Messages:113601884979250 Bytes:113601884979200
  Written - Files:   0     Messages:0  Bytes:0
  
  The error occurs if either UI39743 or UI44372 are applied.
  If both are applied, the problem is not seen.
  

Local fix

• Apply both UI39743 and UI44372.

  PI63101 (UI39743) increased the size of message and byte count
  from 32 to 64 bits but not all modules affected were recompiled
  to pick up the new variable size resulting in incorrect values
  written in STDOUT by QLOAD (CSQUDMSG).
  
  PI69129 (UI44372) recompiled the modules that were missing in
  PI63101 but a pre-requisite was not set resulting in that
  PI69129 can be installed without PI63101 resulting in incorrect
  values written in STDOUT.
  
  If both PI63101 and PI69129 are installed, the message and byte
  counts are written with correct values.
  

Problem conclusion

• All modules that are affected by the new size of the message and
  byte count variables are recompiled and included in this APAR
  that supersedes PI63101 (UI39743) and PI69129 (UI44372).
