Error description
When an audit log is SMS migrated, the ISPF logic does not attempt to recall it and message "Audit log not defined" is received. This causes audit information to be lost.
Local fix
Ensure the Audit log is defined to HSM/SMS as non-migratable.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Program Restart Facility V2R2 * * who use the Audit log capability. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the PRF Audit log function, * * if the Audit log is migrated by HSM or * * a related product, PRF does not request * * that the Audit log be recalled when * * allocating the Audit log. Instead, PRF * * treats the Audit log as missing. In * * addition, when the Audit log is * * specified but missing (this includes * * the case where the Audit log has been * * migrated), PRF will allow updates to * * the options file that would normally be * * recorded in the Audit log. This causes * * audited information to be lost. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF that corrects this APAR. * **************************************************************** PRF dynamically allocates the Audit log when it is needed. Dynamic allocation allows the user to specify that a migrated data set should not be recalled. The PRF ISPF interface makes this request for the Audit log. When the Audit log has been migrated, this causes the dynamic allocation request to fail. The PRF ISPF interface treats all dynamic allocation request failures as if the requested data set does not exist. When the dynamic allocation request for the Audit log fails (for whatever reason), PRF reverts to behaving as if no Audit log was specified by the user. This means that PRF will allow operations to the PRF options file that would normally be audited. This results in missing auditing information.
Problem conclusion
Upon application of this PTF, the PRF ISPF interface will make the request to recall the Audit log if it has been migrated. When the Audit log has been specified but is not available, the PRF ISPF interface will not allow audited operations to take place until the Audit log specification has been corrected.
