Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An application server may use * * an unexpected Java SDK after updating * * to SDK 8.0. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An application server may start using an unexpected Java Software Developer óÔé¼Ôäós Kit (SDK) after updating the embedde Java SDK from version 6.0 to 8.0. The problem can occur on Distributed platforms after swinging a profile to a WSAS installation having a different embedded SDK; and on z/OS after either mounting a different configuration file system or changing an intermediate symlink to a different configuration file system, where the mount point or symlink connect to a product installation that lacks the necessary SDK. When a server uses an unexpected Java SDK it may fail inexplicably at anytime during its lifecycle. Such failures are difficult to determine as their symptoms often manifest long after server startup and may not infer their root cause. APAR PI78941 will emit warning WSVR0710 if it detects the server is using a Java SDK that differs from the SDK enabled in the server or profile configurations.
Problem conclusion
APAR PI78941 emits warning WSVR0710 whenever an application server uses a Java SDK that differs from the SDK enabled in the server or profile configurations. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.5.5.12 and 9.0.0.4.
