APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • STOP DB2 ended up hanging, since the DB STOP/START asynchronous
    task count was none zero. DB2 checkpoint system task
    020.CHEKPT03 is suspended in DSNTRCKW due to the non-zero
    asynchronous task count :

    * STOP DB2 hang due to a non-zero                              *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Apply corrective PTF when available *
    ****************************************************************
    The asynchronous task count was used widely across different
    components. Therefore, when those asynchronous agents were gone,
    it was hard to keep track which module did not decrement the
    task count correctly.

Problem conclusion

  • The asynchronous task count will not be used to serialize STOP
    DB2 with any asynchronous tasks. Instead, it will only be used
    as counter for LPL/GRECP recovery.
