Error description

An EJB 3.x Stub class for an interface that does not extend
java.rmi.Remote may still throw a RemoteException if a
communication error occurs. There are 2 problems with this:

1 - The Java specification does not allow RemoteException to
be thrown if it is not on the throws clause; thus an
application cannot be coded to 'catch' it.

2 - The EJB specification requires that an EJB exception be
thrown.

thrown.

Problem conclusion

The EJB container has been updated to generate Stub classes for
EJB 3.x interfaces that do not extend java.rmi.Remote to throw
the specification required EJBException, rather than
java.rmi.RemoteException when a communication error occurs.

The change to the way stubs are generated may be disabled by
setting the following custom JVM property:
com.ibm.websphere.ejbcontainer.ejb3StubThrowsRemote=true

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
packs 8.5.5.13, 9.0.0.5, and 17.0.0.2.  Please refer to the
