APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The process detection bundle should not check WebSphere
Application Server running processes when -skipInstall is
    used.

Local fix

  • To bypass the running process detection, please follow the
    steps below:
    - Backup <IM Root>/eclipse/configuration/config.ini
    - Open <IM Root>/eclipse/configuration/config.ini in an editor
    - Add line "was.install.disable.detect.running.process=true" to
    the end
    of this file and save.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
WebSphere Application Server offering has a bundle to detect
whether or not WebSphere Application Server is running. It
will block the Installation if running processes are detected.
However, when Installation Manager creates a response file
(that is, using -skipInstall), it actually does not install
content of WebSphere Application Server. Therefore, it is not
necessary to check whether or not WebSphere Application
    Server is running.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix is to skip the detect running process bundle if
    -skipInstall is used.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.0.0.14, 8.5.5.12 and 9.0.0.4. Please refer to the
