Error description

  • Currently IMS ABENDs during restart (/ERE) with U0711 RC=28 when
there is an incompatible unit of recovery status between IMS and
    RRS for the following cases:
    RRS InCommit / IMS InFlight
    RRS Indoubt / IMS InFlight
RRS Indoubt / IMS InPhase 2

To avoid the ABEND the IMS must be manually scrubbed or restart
IMS with RRS=N and then clean up the Unit(s) of Recovery on the
    RRS side.

IMS should be able to tolerate this incompatible state and
provide at a minimum a message to report the mismatch of state
and include the RRS Unit of Recovery ID (URID) and the IMS
    Recovery Token (RTOKEN).

There are rare cases when the state of the unit of recovery
(UOR) is different between IMS and RRS. Some of these
incompatible states of recovery between IMS and RRS can result
in an IMS ABEND U0711 with reason code x'28' during IMS
    emergency start (/ERE).

Problem conclusion

  • Module DFSRRSI0 has been enhanced to issue a new message,
DFS0745E, instead of issuing an ABEND U0711 with reason code
    x'28'.

    Release and Planning Guide

Please add an entry under "IMS system enhancements" of the
release and planning guide for the following topic:

Removal of IMS ABEND U0711 reason code x '28'.

IMS ABEND U0711 with reason code x '28' is being replaced with
the message DFS0745E when an incompatible state of a Unit of
Recovery (UOR) is detected during UOR synchronization. UOR
synchronization is performed whenever IMS and RRS need to
establish or reestablish communication with one another.

Messages and Codes, Volume 1 : DFS Messages

Please add the new message below to the messages and codes
manual under IMS messages and codes -> DFS messages -> DFS
    messages, DFS701I - DFS0750I.

    New Message text:
DFS0745E RRS HOLDS AN aaaaaaaa UOR FOR IMS STATE: bbbbbbbb,
    URID=xxxxxxxxxx TOKEN=yyyyyyyyyy

    Message Explanation
Due to an error in either IMS or Resource Recovery Services
(RRS), the last recorded state in IMS for a Unit of Recovery
(UOR) is incompatible with the last recorded state for the UOR
in RRS. The following table shows the possible incompatible UOR
states that will trigger this message to be issued.
    -------------------------
    | RRS State | IMS State |
    -------------------------
    | INDOUBT | INFLIGHT |
     -----------------------
    | INDOUBT | PHASE 2 |
     -----------------------
    | INCOMMIT | INFLIGHT |
     -----------------------

The module DFSRRSI0 performs UOR synchronization between IMS and
RRS and will issue this DFS0745E message after an incompatible
state of a UOR is detected. The UOR synchronization code path
can be driven whenever IMS and RRS need to establish or
    reestablish communication with one another.

When IMS detects incompatible states for a UOR during IMS
emergency restart (/ERE.), IMS continues with emergency restart
processing and the appropriate BACKOUT or COMMIT exit routine is
    invoked.

Explanation of codes that are included in the message
    aaaaaaaa
Is the state of the unit of recovery (UOR) from the point of
    view of RRS.
The value is either "INCOMMIT" or "INDOUBT".

    bbbbbbbb
Is the state of the unit of recovery (UOR) from the point of
    view of IMS.
The value is either "INFLIGHT" or "PHASE 2".

    xxxxxxxxxx
The RRS unit of recovery identifier (URID).

    yyyyyyyyyy
       The IMS recovery token.

    System action
    Processing continues.

    Output destination of message
    MTO and System console

    User Responses
Contact IBM Software Support and provide the RRS trace, the IMS
log, and the output of the RRS ISPF panels.

The RRS URID and IMS recovery token are supplied in the message.
Use these to examine the RRS ISPF panels and the IMS log to
determine the extent of a possible batch recovery.
