Error description
IBM Rational Developer for z systems - IDz - RDz When you use the COBOL editor to open a file that is controlled by a change management tool such as Endevor in read only mode and you use the split mode twice, the second instance of the split mode may open the file in edit mode even though the file is read only. Steps to reproduce: From the CARMA view select a COBOL program when prompted open it in Read Only mode. Select Window > Editor > Toggle Split Editor File is still open in browse only, and typing is NOT allowed Close split window Select Window > Editor > Toggle Split Editor again Now you are able to type
Local fix
Be sure that users cannot make a change to the file by protecting the file in RACF or some similar system security
Problem summary
When a COBOL editor that was in read-only mode is split and then the split is closed and then split again, the read-only property gets lost and the editor wrongly becomes editable.
Problem conclusion
