  • PRF IVP program IRTIVPG1 will generate a S0C1 abend when using
the AIB calling method and the AIB call fails

Problem summary

* USERS AFFECTED: All Users of Program Restart Facility V2R2.  *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When running the PRF IVP program        *
*                      IRTIVPG1 and using the default option   *
*                      to have the program use the AIB         *
*                      interface instead of the legacy DLI     *
*                      interface, the program will abend with  *
*                      a S0C1 if the AIB interface call fails. *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF that corrects this APAR.       *
****************************************************************
When IRTIVPG1 was developed, traps were coded in the program to
cause dumps when error conditions occurred. One of these traps
was not removed in the production version of the program.
Instead of producing an error message and a documemtable user
abend, the program executes the trap, which causes the S0C1.

Problem conclusion

  • The program has been modified to generate an error message and
documentable user abend if it encounters a bad return from the
AIB interface call.
