APAR status

Error description

• IDz 14.0 / RDz 9 Autolocate expanding in MVS Filterpools fail
  when RSE menu "Show Filter Pools" is checked
  
  This occurs when the user has in the Remote Systems Tree view
  with menu item "Show FilterPools" selected.
  
  The problem that the tree view is not expanded is observed:
  * When, after submit JCL the "Locate Job" button is selected
  * When "open declaration" is selected from a dataset definition
  in the JCL editor.
  
  The <workspace>\.metadata\.log shows:
  For the open declaration:
  java.lang.NullPointerException
  at com.ibm.etools.zos.subsystem.jes.JESSubSystem
              .getChildren(Unknown Source)
  at org.eclipse.rse.internal.ui.view.SystemViewSubSystemAdapter
              .getChildren(Unknown Source)

  For the Submit/Locate Job: The exception the stacktrace is not
  identical to the above but the root cause is the same. Both
  stack traces show the same NullPointerException in
  com.ibm.etools.zos.subsystem.jes.JESSubSystem.getChildren(Unknow

Local fix

Problem summary

• When the Remote Systems view option to 'Show Filter Pools" is
  checked, the function that locates a Job after submission isn't
  finding the job.
  

Problem conclusion

• The function that locates job was not taking into account the
  scenario where filter pools are shown in the Remote Systems
  tree.  In order to reveal the Retrieved Jobs, it's parent filter
  pool must first be expanded.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for z Systems V9.5.1.4 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
