APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The CPSM IPCS VERBEXIT formats many areas of CPSM. The
    communications formatting, invoked with command
    .
       VERBX EYU9D### 'COM'
    .
where ### is the release number of the VERBEXIT, displays
communications related control blocks. One critical need is to
be able to format the CMAS to CMAS communication chains. This
APAR is being opened to add a CMAS-to-CMAS Summary, making many
commonly needed control blocks available in one easily readable
    table.
    .
    Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVGJT

Local fix

  • None. CMAS to CMAS chains must be manually investigated

The CICSPlex SM supplied IPCS dump formatter EYU9Dnnn (where
nnn is the CPSM version of the dump being investigated) is an
effective mechanism for the reporting of control block
structures in an MVS system dump of a CMAS. However, when the
dump relates to certain kinds of network slowdown, or a Short
on Storage condition, then the dump content can be substantial
in some respects, and completely lacking in others. If the
slowdown (or SOS) relates to a suspended (or slow) CMAS-to-CMAS
connection, then ascertaining which CMAS the slowdown has
occurred on can be a time consuming and tedious process.

Problem conclusion

  • To assist the diagnosis of these conditions, the dump
formatter processing for the "COM" component has been modified
to locate the "Send" transmission Conversation Link Blocks
(CLCBs), and walk the three transmission chains associated
with each Send Conversation. The data gathered is used to
format a "CMAS-CMAS direct connection" report, which identifies
the name and CPSM release of each connection partner, along
with details of the control block locations and queue depths
    for those linkages.

In addition, if the service engineer specifies "COM=4" for the
command parameter, then every transmission buffer will be
    included in the formatted report.

Changes were applied to the "COM" component processor
module (EYU0DVOF), the message reporter module (EYU0DVMP),
and the keyword processor module (EYU0DVKW). In the
process of adding the new reporting code to EYU0DVOF, it
became necessary to modify it to employ assembler language
relative addressing, which in turn necessitated an update
to the CPSM IPCS service macro EYUQDVSR.
