Error description

  • Creating or deleting hyperlinks that span VOBs (common in a UCM
    setup) in IBM Rational ClearCase can lead to a situation where
    two processes are waiting on each other for a lock on one of the
    VOB databases. This will lead to the Dead Man Lock Timeout to be
    triggered, making one of the two operations to fail.
    Symptoms:
    db_server(14591): Error: Deadman lock timeout. Client
    "clientA,pid==18769,euid==UNIX:UID-num, No command" idle while
    holding locks.
    db_server(14591): Warning:
    "clientA,pid==18769,euid==UNIX:UID-num, No command" cmd:  db:
    db_arrow_get held for 60 seconds a "r" lock in the usual area in
    <vob-storage>/db!

    Workaround:
    Retry the operation
