APAR status

  • Closed as fixed if next.

Error description

  • GDPS device size checking may encounter unwarranted GEO020E
errors for 'Device Size mismatch detected', indicating that
the listed devices do not have the same number of cylinders.
This can occur if GDPS is unable to determine the correct
size of a device from the device class extension (DCE)
    control block.

Local fix

  • Rebuild the DCE control blocks for the reported devices in
    one of the following ways:
    - Issue MVS command DEVSERV QDASD,sdddd,nn,VALIDATE
      for the reported devices.
    - Issue MVS command F ANTAS000,REDISCOVER
This will rebuild DCE data for all offline devices.
    - If APAR OA43706 is installed, the ANTXIN00 parmlib
member can be updated to use STARTUP OfflineDiscovery(YES)
This will build DCE data for offline devices after IPL.
