             TARGET OF A RENAME STATEMENT IS IDENTICAL TO THE

    *                      fails with a SQLCODE=-601 /             *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When altering a temporal table to rename a column, the
    apply job recreates the history table but does not drop the
    history table, causing the following SQLCODE=-601 /
    SQLCODEN601 error:

    DSNT408I SQLCODE = -601, ERROR: THE NAME
    (VERSION OR VOLUME SERIAL NUMBER) OF
    THE OBJECT TO BE DEFINED OR THE TARGET
    OF A RENAME STATEMENT IS IDENTICAL TO THE
    EXISTING NAME

Problem conclusion

  • The history table does not need to be dropped and recreated,
    as it uses the ALTER TABLE...RENAME COLUMN statement to
    rename the column name.
