    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Ampersand character that is part of a character entity
    reference is no longer escaped by the XCI component. This
    causes some applications to fail with the following exception:
    com.ibm.xml.xci.errors.XCIDynamicErrorException: The entity
    name must immediately follow the '&' in the entity reference.
    This occurs mostly when the content of an entire XML tree is
    stored within an XML element.

Problem conclusion

  • Introduced system property
    com.ibm.xml.xci.serializer.XOutputWriter.ESCAPE_AMPERSAND_IN_ENT
    ITY to revert back to the old behaviour of escaping an
    ampersand character within a character reference. This system
    property is disabled by default. Set the value to 'true' to
    enable the system property.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.11 and 9.0.0.3. Please refer to the Recommended
