Error description
WebSphere Application Server and Plug-ins v9 and v8.5.5.11 using Java 8, does not list the CMS option in IKeyman GUI.
Local fix
1.Navigate to directory IBM\WebSphere\AppServer_1\java\jre\lib\security Or for the Web Server Plug-in, navigate to \Plugins_Install_Root\java\jre\lib\security 2.Open the java.security file. 3.In the java.security file, add the following statement to the list of security providers as shown, where number is the last sequence number in the list. security.provider.number=com.ibm.security.cmskeystore.CMSProvide r for further information please navigate to url below: Adding CMS/KDB support for the iKeyMan utility: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSKTXQ_9.0.1/admin/c onfig/config__add_cmskdb_support_ikeyman_utility.html
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server who use ikeyman from WebSphere's * * bin directory or Plugins\bin directory * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: iKeyman GUI does not show "CMS" * * in its pull down menu for WebSphere * * Application Server or Plug-ins * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Starting with Java 8, CMS provider is not loaded by default. iKeyman does not show the CMS option when the CMS provider is not loaded.
Problem conclusion
At iKeyman 8.0.411 or above, following JVM property is supported by GSKit: ADD_CMS_SERVICE_PROVIDER_ENBLED When it is set to true, iKeyman loads the CMS provider and shows the CMS option on its pulldown on the GUI. ikeyman launch script under WebSphere installation bin directory and Plugins installation bin is updated by this APAR to add the JVM option. -DADD_CMS_SERVICE_PROVIDER_ENABLED=true The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 9.0.0.4 and 8.5.5.12. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
Temporary fix
Alternately, java.security file can be updated to load com.ibm.security.cmskeystore.CMSProvider so that the CMS option shows up in iKeyman GUI. This solution does not require iKeyman to be at or above 8.0.411.
