PI69751: MIGRATE MAY FAIL WITH DSNU1218I ON A BLOB COLUMN UNLOAD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Even though SPANNED might be specified in the user's Migrate
  profile, a BLOB column unload may fail with DSNU1218I, DSNUULIA
  - LOGICAL RECORD LENGTH OF OUTPUT
  RECORD EXCEEDED THE LIMIT FOR TABLE.
  

Local fix

• From panel ADB28M (Migrate Parameters), select UO (Customize
  Utility Options) then U (Unload), and specify SPANNED YES.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The user must select 'UO - Customize    *
  *                      utility options' from panel ADB28M      *
  *                      'Migrate Parameters then the 'U -       *
  *                      Unload' command from panel ADB2UOPS     *
  *                      'Change Utilities Options', and         *
  *                      specify SPANNED=YES every time before   *
  *                      generating MIG jobs to have SPANNED     *
  *                      YES generated.                          *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, even though the SPANNED
  option might be specified to YES and saved in the user's
  profile, the user still must select UO ( Customize Utility
  Options ) then U ( Unload ) command from panel ADB2UOPS and
  specify SPANNED=YES every time before generating MIG jobs to
  have SPANNED YES generated in the UNLOAD statement of the
  source job.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved. The user does not need issue UO
  then U command every time to use SPANNED in the MIG jobs when
  the SPANNED option has been previously saved into user's
  profile.
