Error description

• Currently there is no way to quickly purge active connections
  if there is a problem on the connection.  Adding the abort
  option allows a connection to be immediately aborted
  regardless of the state it is in or any network latency.

  The option to specify "abort" was added when using the
  purgePoolContents operation of the data source MBean.  This
  will allow the pool to be purged utilizing the abort function
  added in JDBC 4.1.  This option can be useful if there are
  delays experienced when purging the pool using the "normal" or
  "immediate" options.
  

Problem conclusion

• The option to use "abort" when purging the connection pool was
  added to the data source MBean purgePoolContents operation.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 9.0.0.3.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
