Error description

  • What's noticed:
    When IBM Security AppScan Source is installed on Microsoft
    Windows OS user may occasionally notice a message like "Unable
    to open solid.ini file" while using the AppScan Source product.
    The work-around to that problem is to change file properties
    manually to make it writable to the logon user.
    
    What's expected:
    AppScan source user is expected to use the product without
    having to manually edit solid.ini file which is a core file to
    connect to SolidDB database.

    * On occasions users of AppScan Source notice that they cannot *
    * open solid.ini file after product is installed unless they   *
    * manually modify the properties of the file to allow changes  *
    * to the file.                                                 *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    This issue could be seen up to versions 9.0.3.3 of IBM Security
    AppScan Source.
    

Problem conclusion

  • It was noticed that this solid.ini file is being created with
    more restricted permissions.  We now fixed the issue such that
    all users can modify this file now without needing any manual
    changes.
