The trouble occurs under following conditions: - Target databases of Reorganization is HIDAM database. - The type of the Image Copy processing is Type-A (ICTYPE=A). - DBBUF= keyword is provided in ICEIN DD card and specified number is 2000 or more. By Type-A process, IMS HP Image Copy task of reorganization interface receives each reorganized record from the reorganization task, and copies it in the buffer on storage, then IMS HP Image Copy notices the reorganization task that the record copy is done. Number of buffer is equal to number of tasks that create image copy data set and run HASH check. And number of entries in each buffer are determined by specified number of DBBUF= keyword. Each tasks of creating image copy data set pulls record from the buffer and passes it to HASH check process. When the buffer is full, the interface task waits until the buffer can be reusable, The cause of trouble is interface module keeps buffer entries in the half word field and checking number as full word. When the entries number is 2000 or over, interface module mishandles the number of entries. As the result, the interface module does not recognize when the buffer is full, and overwrites the record that has not been processed. When HASH Check verifies the record, and finds incorrect record.
Problem conclusion
IMS HP Image Copy uses full word area for handling number of buffer entries.
