SNAP capability of EMC TimeFinder is available in the physical copy process (CRCTYPE=P) of the Create Image Copy function, when the format of input image copy data set is Fast Recovery image copy format. This APAR also fixes some potential problems in IMS HP Image Copy that have been found during the test phase. Problems in Create image Copy function: - The batch image copy indicator is set in the image copy header for the concurrent image copy data set by the logical copy process (CRCTYPE=L) when the format of input image copy data set that is created by the concurrent image copy (CIC) process is Fast Recovery image copy format. The logical copy process generates image copy header record for the standard image copy format of IMS HP Image Copy when the format of input image copy data set is the Fast Recovery image copy format. In the generation process, IMS HP Image Copy does not check the SMSONLC in the IC TYPE field of DBRC RECON that is an identifier of input image copy that is created by concurrent image copy process. As the result, IMS HP Image Copy does not set the identifier of the concurrent image copy in the header record of the output image copy data set. - Incorrect image copy header is generated by the logical copy process (CRCTYPE=L) when the format of input image copy data set of DEDB is Fast Recovery image copy format. This problem occurs when the Create Image Copy function processes a DBDS group or a recovery group of DBDSGRP, or CA group in which DEDBs are included. When processing DEDBs in these groups, IMS HP Image Copy does not refer DBD information for DEDB in IMS DD. As the result, the necessary information is not set in the image copy header for DEDB in the header generation process. Problems in Image Copy function that runs with EMC TimeFinder: - Allocation of shadow data set for the index database is failed when Online Pointer Checking function (pseudo online pointer check mode) runs with COPY process of Advanced Image Copy Services. (HDPC=Y and ICOUT=%NO) IMS HP Image Copy does not set the request flag of shadow data set allocation for the index database when Online Pointer Checking function runs. - EMCSNAPI module terminates with RC=08 at the process of creating secondary image copy data set as Fast Recovery image copy format, when the data set name of secondary image copy is provided in JCL DD card in the job. When the DATA_MOVER=EMCSNAP is specified, Image Copy function does not check if the DD card for secondary image copy data set is defined in the job, then IMS HP Image Copy calls EMC TimeFinder with null field as output data set name.

Comments
The physical copy process (CRCTYPE=P) of the Create image Copy function schedules EMC TimeFinder program and takes the data set snap copy of the original image copy data set, when the format of input image copy data set is Fast Recovery image copy format. For using the data set snap copy of EMC TimeFinder, you must set up EMC TimeFinder. The documentation changes by this APAR of IBM IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS User's Guide ( SC19275602 ) is available on the web site: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27020942 This APAR also fixes some potential problems in IMS HP Image Copy that have been found during the test phase. - The process of generating image copy header in Create image Copy function checks IC Type indicator for SMSONLC and set the concurrent image copy identifier in the header when processing logical copy for the Fast Recovery image copy format. - When the logical copy process of Create image Copy function fo a DBDS group, a recovery group, or CA group in which DEDBs are included and the format of input image copy data set is Fast Recovery image copy format, IMS HP Image Copy pulls necessary DBD information for DEDB from IMS DD and sets them in the header. - When running Online Pointer Checker function of IMS HP Image Copy with EMC TimeFinder, IMS HP Image Copy sets the request flag of shadow data set allocation for the index database correctly. - IMS HP Image Copy refers JFCB data for secondary image copy data set that is provided in DD card and sets its correct output data set name, when calling EMCSNAPI module of EMC TimeFinder.
