PI69005: BINARY_DELTA TYPE MANAGER DOES NOT REMOVE ITS TEMP FILE AFTER FAILURE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• binary_delta  type manager uses a temp file to
  * gzip deflate the existing source container
    * build the new source container prior to gzipping it into the
  actual source container
  
  After a successful type manager operation this temp file gets
  removed,
  but after a failed operation the temp file remains
  
  In the worst case, since the temp file naming convention is
  tmp12345
    all the possible names get exhausted and EVERY subsequent type
  manager operation fails,
    due to being unable to create the temp file it needs
  

Local fix

• The files are created in the TEMP directory, which maybe
    On UNIX / Linux
         /tmp
         /var/tmp
    On Windows
         set in the TMP or TEMP environment variable
         for temp files created by view_server process, it is the
  TEMP environment variable of the ClearCase service account
  
  Delete the old temp files manually.
  Monitor for the existence of many files named tmpNNNNN
