Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server users of * * federated repositories * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Concurrent initialization of VMM may * * lead to failures initializing * * datagraph objects. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When multiple threads accessed VMM concurrently and VMM had not been initialized yet, the SDO / EMF schema had not yet been loaded. These threads would then attempt to load the schema dynamically and lead to corrupt initialization of the schema. A stack trace such as the following would be visible in the trace. Note that this stacktrace could be one of several exceptions including IllegalArgumentException and NullPointerException. The defining traits are that the causal exception originates from an EMF package (org.eclipse.emf.*) and that the exception is usually encountered when first accessing the service with multiple clients. Problem conclusion
Updated the initialization of the SDO / EMF schema to avoid concurrent initialization. The custom property, addEMFSDOUtilAdapType, is required to enable this fix (see PI20941 for more information). A custom property needs to be set as generic JVM argument is -DaddEMFSDOUtilAdapType=true Please follow this link that tells about how to set generic JVM arguments: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21417365 The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.14, 8.5.5.12 and 9.0.0.5.
