Error description

crash in free call when using Intelligent Management and there
are errors creating transports.

*                      feature with the webserver plugin, a    *
*                      crash occurs if there are errors        *
*                      creating transports.                    *

A crash can be seen in the C library "free" function if using
the intelligent management feature on the web server plugin
and DNS errors prevented creation of WebSphere transports.

Problem conclusion

When errors prevent transports from being created, memory was
not allocated to store transport address information and error
checking was not in place so the code would try to free memory
which was never allocated which caused a program exception.

Code was corrected to check the error code and not attempt to
free what was not allocated.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.5.5.11 and 9.0.0.2.  Please refer to the
