    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Packages created with mixed case *
    * names are not supported on *
    *                      various DB2 Admin Tool panels.          *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a B, BC, F, or RB line command is issued on panel ADB21K
    'Packages' for a collection with a mixed case name, the panel
    that processes the line command will incorrectly display the
    collection name in uppercase, and when the 'Enter' key is
    pressed, the user will receive message DSNT238I, for example:

    DSNT238I  #DSNB- REBIND ERROR
                USING IBMUSER AUTHORITY
                PACKAGE =
    SSID.TESTONEA1AAAAAAAAA2BBBBBBBBB3CCCC
    FFFF7GGGGGGGGG8.ADBTEP2.(V11.2.0.00000)
                DOES NOT EXIST

Comments

  • This apar has the following changes:

    - DB2 Admin supports a 'CAPS ON' or 'CAPS OFF' primary command
      on panels listed below. When CAPS OFF is in effect, it
      allows text to remain in mixed text after the 'Enter' key is
      pressed.

    - The filter line allows the list of objects to be reduced
      to only show the objects matching the filter.

      The following panels support the use of mixed case names in
      the 'Collection' field of the filter line, when CAPS OFF
      is in effect:

      * ADB21K, 'Packages'
      * ADB21L, 'Collections'
      * ADB2AK, 'Package Authorization'
      * ADB2AL, 'Collection Authorizations'

    - DB2 Admin supports a 'CAPS ON' or 'CAPS OFF' command in the
      following panels:

      * ADB21KB, 'Bind Package'
      * ADB21KF, 'Free Package'
      * ADB21KR, 'Rebind Package'
      * ADB2Gk, 'Grant Package Privileges'
      * ADB2GL, 'Grant Collection Privileges'
      * ADB2RL, 'Revoke Collection Privileges'
      * ADB2RK, 'Revoke Package Privileges'

      In these panels, the default is CAPS ON if the collection
      name consists of all capital letters and the default is
      CAPS OFF if the collection name contains any lower case
      characters.

    - Packages for Functions, Procedures, and Triggers are not
      supported.

    - There are three new messages:

      Number . . . : ADB820I
      Text . . . . : An object name contains mixed case characters.
      Explanation : The collection id for this object is in mixed
                     case. The input field for collection id is
                     changed to avoid capitalization. Any changes
                     made to the collection id have to be made in
                     the desired case.
      System Action: The system continues.
      User Response: This message is for user awareness. No
                     response is necessary.

      Number . . . : ADB821I
      Text . . . . : Some data fields are changed to CAPS OFF.
                     Some data fields are changed to CAPS ON.
      Explanation : This message is in response to the user issuing
                     a CAPS command.

                     CAPS ON translates certain fields to upper case
                     case. The user cannot save values in
                     mixed case.
                     CAPS OFF allows certain fields to allow mixed
                     case values. The user must type in the case
                     that is desired.
      System Action: The system continues.
      User Response: This message is for user awareness.
                     For CAPS ON, the user cannot save values in
                     mixed case. For CAPS OFF, the user must
                     type in the case that is desired.

      Number . . . : ADB822W CAPS not allowed
      Text . . . . : The CAPS command is not allowed on this panel.
      Explanation : This message is shown for panels that do not
                     have fields that support mixed case values.
      System Action: The system continues.
      User Response: This message is for user awareness. No
                     response is necessary.
