APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In V2.1, jobs were automatically excluded from PRF processing
unless the job matched an existing job entry in the options
file. After IRTINCL is run, while all job entries specify
EXCLUDE=NO, unless the V2.1 job entry specified EXCLUDE=YES,
jobs with job entries are now by default excluded from
    processing.

Local fix

  • Specify EXCLUDE=NO in each PSB,PGM,JOB, and IJS statement in
your V2.1 inclusion options file for which you want PRF V2.2 to
    process, then re-run IRTINCL.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
There is a bug in the IRTINCL conversion program where an
incorrect bit setting is made in a job override entry when
converting that entry from V2R1 to V2R2 format, and the V2R1
entry does not contain its own EXCLUDE specification. When this
happens, upon conversion to V2R2, the job is excluded from PRF
processing unless the job contains an //IRT$CNTL EXCLUDE=NO
override, or until the matching job option is modified using the
    PRF ISPF panals.

Problem conclusion

  • The Program Restart Facility conversion program will set the
correct bit setting when creating the V2R2 job override entry
so that the job will be included in PRF V2.2 processing if it
would have been included in PRF V2.1 processing, based on the
contents of the PRF V2.1 job override statement.

    *NOTE*
For customers who run IRTINCL multiple times (for instance, when
running conversion tests, or when converting multiple IMS
environments), this constitutes a change in behavior. Whereas
prior to the fix for this APAR, you may have had to modify your
PRF V2.2 job entries after you ran the IRTINCL conversion
program to allow jobs to run under PRF control, you will not
have to do this if you re-run the IRTINCL program after
application of the fix for this APAR. If you were depending on
this behavior to convert jobs to V2.2 in any kind of a "rolling"
process (i.e. - not all at once), you may have to modify your
    conversion procedures.

This fix has no effect on customers who do not plan to run
the IRTINCL conversion program after this fix is installed.

Tech doc will be provided to IBM documentation group to be
    posted on the Web site.
