PI61708: CONNECTION PROBLEMS IN WEB BROWSER CLIENT AFTER LONG PERIODS OF INACTIVITY

Error description

  • If a user comes back to using the CAE web client after a long
    period of inactivity, they can experience various kinds of
    connection problems such as:
    1. Long periods of waiting for a result
    2. Network errors in datasharing requests.
    This problem occurs when something in the network
    infrastructure (e.g., a firewall) is configured to close
    inactive connections). CAE Server keeps open connections with
    CAE Agents even if there is no activity between CAE Server
    and Agent (no requests from Activity Browser, no requests
    from ISPF client). If these connections are closed by 3rd
    party applications (for example, firewall) due to inactivity
    then this causes unexpected delays when user starts using
    CAE Server again, and sometimes error messages in datasharing
    requests.
