Error description

  • WebSphere OLA can abend when connections in an address space
    go
beyond 128. For example this can happen in CICS if you have
    a
link server with MXC=130, or a combination of several link
servers whose MXC add up to >128.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ABEND0C4 RSN=4 or CICS ASRA abend *
    * occurs in the WOLA CICS Link Server *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
An ABEND0C4 RSN=4 or CICS ASRA abend can occur in the WOLA CICS
Link Server (modules bboatrue/bboacsrv/bboaclnk) if the total
number of WOLA connections used by the CICS region exceeds 128.
For example, if a link server is started using the BBOC
transaction, and MXC=500, the abend will occur if there are more
than 128 connections open at any one time. Another example, if
two link servers are started, both with MXC=100, the abend will
occur if both link servers have a number of connections open
which is greater than 128. The abend occurs while attempting to
expand the connection handle cell pool.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was added to avoid the ABEND0C4 while expanding the WOLA
    connection handle cell pool.
