Error description

• The WebSphere Application Server Control Region abended with
  REASON=C9C21236.  This stemmed from a NullPointerException in
  InboundProtocolLink.close after a native call attempted to send
  a message via the ZIOPChannelBridge.  The following

  A native call drove the ZIOPChannelBridge.sendMessage method to
  send data over a connection.   A org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE was
  was caught by the sendMessage method.  In the cleanup code for
  the caught exception a close of connection was issued.  This
  close invocation raised a NullPointerException which was
  uncaught.   Control was returned to the native caller with an
  outstanding Java exception on the thread which caused the
  controller to abnormally terminate with:
  BBOO0006E WEBSPHERE FOR Z/OS PROCESS WEP10B1 ENDED ABNORMALLY,
  REASON=C9C21236.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code was modified in the cleanup paths of ZIOPChannelBridge to
  catch exceptions from a close connection call.
  
  APAR PI59158 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
  8.0.0.13 and 8.5.5.10 WebSphere Application Server.
