Export retrieves current relationship definitions to update the
Access Definition prior to export. This can require locating
and expanded many objects consuming time and resources.

Problem conclusion

  • In most cases this is not necessary particularly as this
processing also occurs by default when importing the Access
Definition. A new option, EXPORT_NEW_RELS, was created. YES is
the default and operates as before. NO causes Optim to simply
write out the Access Definition as it currently exists. When
used in combination with SUBDEF the user should consider whether
the Access Definition relationships should be updated before
they are written to the export file.
The following publications are affected by this APAR:
    BATCH UTILITIES
Chapter 3; Utilities to Migrate Optim Objects; EXPORT
    [EXPORT_NEW_RELS YES|NO]
    Under Optional Processing Keywords
EXPORT_NEW_RELS Controls whether Optim refreshes the Access
Definition relationships with the relationships currently
defined for the tables prior to EXPORTing the AD with or without
    its subordinate objects.
YES Optim will refresh the relationships. This is the default
and the behavior prior to adding this keyword.
NO Optim processes the relationships as they exist in the
current Access Definition. This may reduce the processing
    required to perform the EXPORT.
