Error description
Unexpected behaviour is due to the CRA resubmitting work to the SR to process message references even though there are already outstanding requests in the SR to procress the same message references. APAR to address the issue of inflight work in the SR being resubmitted by the CRA to the SR if redriven by the QMGR MARKINT timing out.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users of WMQ * * Activation Specifications. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The WMQ Activation Spec may duplicate * * work to process the same message when * * the message mark browse interval * * expires. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If the message mark browse interval (MARKINT) on the Queue Manager expires the message will be redelivered to the WMQ Activation Specification in the control region adjunct process. The current behaviour of the activation specification is to resubmit a new work request to a servant region to process the message regardless of whether an existing request to process the same message is already in progress. Furthermore, if such an outstanding request existed then the resubmission of the new work is not subject to the throttling constraints configured for the activation specification.
Problem conclusion
An alternative behaviour has been provided such that in the event that a message reference is redelivered to the WMQ Activation Specification and work is already outstanding to process the same message reference then the redelivery is ignored and no new work is dispatched to the servant regions. The existing behaviour remains the default. To enable the new behaviour JVM system property com.ibm.ws.wmqra.zdispatcher.ActivationSpecRedispatchInflightMes sages should be specified with a value of false APAR PI54881 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs 8.5.5.10 and 9.0.0.1 of WebSphere Application Server.
