PI54521: INTERMITTENTLY 'REPORTS - RUN' HANGS NEAR COMPLETION (E.G. 84%) OF REPORT - CAUSED BY MULTI-THREADED EXCEL

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Inside the main Controller client (CCR.EXE), user clicks 'Report
  - Run'. User chooses a report, and selects the parameters, and
  clicks 'Send to Application'.
  During the running of the report, the Excel GUI shows a
  percentage of how much is completed (at the bottom-right
  corner), for example "Calculating: (4 Processor(s)): 84%".
  Intermittently (for example in the most recent test, it was 1 in
  12) this remains at the same value (it is 'stuck' / hanging).
  The report never finishes.
  

Local fix

• The problem in this case is when using an fAccName with the
  result from an fAcc. While this in theory should work it is not
  the recommended way of doing this.
  
  The way to fix this report is to add a formula =cc.fAccName() in
  cell H31 to H197 which during report run will be filled out with
  the account name in the same way as =cc.fAcc() will be filled
  out with the account code. Then replace all =cc.fAccName
  formulas further down in the report with direct references to
  the cc.fAccName formulas added in H column.
