    *                  Server V8.5 High Performance Extensible     *
    *                  Logging (HPEL)                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A NullPointerException in HPEL code *
    * was causing the HPEL and default *
    * trace to be different. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    HpelFormatter.java did not have a not null check for an
    object which was fetching the parameter of a given hpel record
    This was causing the trace to misbehave and show a different
    trace record during default and HPEL trace. It was also
    causing a NullPointer exception while trying to view the
    HPEL record.

Problem conclusion

  • To Prevent the NullPointerException and different trace
    log for default trace and HPEL trace, We have provided a not
    null check to record.getParameter() in the HpelFormatter.java.
