    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    There is a code bug where a request for an application that
    would normally get a 404 may instead return a 500
    (internal error) due to a null pointer exception. This can
    happen when a new edition of the application has been
    installed but for some reason we are attempting to route to
    the old edition. It can also happen if a Generic Server
    Cluster is defined that could receive requests but a URL was
    specified that does not match any installed application.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic has been corrected to check for the possibility
    that there are no web modules for the request application
    edition when processing a request for the application. By
    doing this the NullPointerException is avoided and the proper
    response of 404 is returned.
