Error description

  • A WOLA connection through the WebSphere Liberty environment
may fail for various reasons. Several different reasons for
failure are all appearing with the the same reason
    code/return
code pairing. In order for problem determination to go
more easily, there will be more specific information
    supplied
to help distinguish between various reasons for WOLA
    connection failure.

    ****************************************************************
Some features of IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty
Profile for z/OS require SAF permissions to particular resources
in order to function correctly. The zosLocalAdapters feature
requires the user starting the Liberty server instance to have
authority to load the authorized code in the BBGZSAFM and
BBGZSCFM load modules. Problems associated with the lack of
authority are difficult to diagnose. This is due in part to the
lack of error messages produced by the server when authorization
checks fail, and the ambiguity of the return codes provided by
the zosLocalAdapters client when trying to communicate with a
server which does not have the proper authorization. A RC=12
RSN=16 is returned to the client, but this is not enough
information to diagnose and fix the problem.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was added to print messages CWWKB0103I and CWWKB0104I in
the server log indicating which client services are authorized,
and which are unauthorized. Additional return and reason codes
for WOLA services were added to the Knowledge Center to help
determine when the client was not able to connect to the Liberty
server due to an authorization problem.
