Error description

• ABEND04E RC00C90218 DSNISGSC ERQUAL5001 after an online REORG
  with inline COPY.  The error occurs when a mix of
  partitions with basic and extended page formats
  are being reorganized.
  

Local fix

• Until a fix is available, the following guidance is recommended:
  Do not convert any partitions to extended page format unless
  you can convert all partitions at the same time and can
  guarantee that any new partitions will be created with extended
  page format.
  
  Table spaces with a mixture of partitions in basic page format
  and extended page format should be converted to make all
  partitions of the table space have the same page format.
  
  If that is not practical, do not run online REORG with inline
  copy (REORG ... SHRLEVEL CHANGE ... COPYDDN ...) on a list
  of some or all partitions unless you are certain that all
  partitions in your list share the same page format.

    User ran an online REORG TABLESPACE utility with inline copy
  (SHRLEVEL CHANGE...COPYDDN) on a list of partitions of a
  partitioned table space concurrently with insert/update
  activity.  The list included a mix of parts which had, and had
  not, been converted to extended page format.
    The REORG completed normally, but later attempts to access
  the data failed with ABEND04E RC00C90218 DSNISGSC ERQUAL5001.
    This happened because REORG did not correctly calculate
  the offset to the page modified bits for all space map pages
  in all partitions.  Since some of the partitions had been
  converted to extended RBA/LRSN page format, this offset was not
  the same in all partitions.  In particular this led to missing
  data for universal table spaces (UTS) because when REORG
  logapply processing reset page modified bits at the incorrect
  offset in some of the partitions, some segment data information
  residing on those space map pages was inadvertently cleared.
    Whether REORG properly recalculated the offset when the offset
  was different was dependent on the contents of residual storage.
  Therefore, this problem is intermittent.
    In addition to the reported abend, symptoms could include
  various abends from queries, vendor products, or other
  utilities.
    Note that this problem can only occur for REORGs which do not
  convert the page format of the partitions they are run on, and,
  for users with hash-organized table spaces, the same exposure
  exists when:
  - LOAD REPLACE of a hash tablespace with a mix of extended- and
  basic-format partitions when a sequential inline image copy is
  requested.
  - REORG TABLESPACE (any SHRLEVEL) of a hash tablespace with
  a mix of extended- and basic-format partitions when a sequential
  inline image copy is requested or required.
  

Problem conclusion

• DB2 utility code was changed to ensure that REORG and LOAD
  utilities will recalculate the offset to the page modified bits
  in the space map pages for each partition as needed.
