Error description

  • In rare instances, an FFDC for a
    java.lang.IllegalStateException is created during server
    stop.

    For example:
    >Exception = java.lang.IllegalStateException
    >Source =
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.internal.ApplicationConfigurator
    >probeid = 1285
    >Stack Dump = java.lang.IllegalStateException
    > at
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.internal.ApplicationConfigurator$Upda
    teEpisodeState.<init>(ApplicationConfigurator.java:1318)
    > at
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.internal.ApplicationConfigurator.join
    Episode(ApplicationConfigurator.java:1284)
    > at
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.internal.ApplicationConfigurator.noti
    ficationCreated(ApplicationConfigurator.java:923)
    > at
    com.ibm.ws.runtime.update.internal.RuntimeUpdateManagerImpl.
    createNotification(RuntimeUpdateManagerImpl.java:238)

This is an expected possible exception, and should not
    expose an FFDC.

This is an expected possible exception, and should not expose an
    FFDC.

Problem conclusion

  • This particular IllegalStateException FFDC was in error. The
error path is properly handled and should not output an FFDC.
The code was updated to not write an FFDC on this condition.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
