Error description

  • Setting "com.ibm.ws.logging.trace.file.name=stdout" is a
    convenient way to collect logs while avoiding log scraping,
    but with this setting, everything is routed to standard
    output, including messages or other output that would have
    gone to the standard error stream.

    ****************************************************************
    Setting "com.ibm.ws.logging.trace.file.name=stdout" is a
    convenient way to collect logs in one file while avoiding log
    scraping. However, with this setting, everything is routed to
    standard output, including messages or other output that would
    have gone to the standard error stream.

Problem conclusion

  • The logging behavior has been updated. When using
    "com.ibm.ws.logging.trace.file.name=stdout", server managed
    output will be consistently formatted. System.out, non-error
    message and trace output will be written to the standard output
    stream. System.err and error message output will be written to
    the standard error stream.
