Error description
The use of z/OS Connect's data transformer identified by configuration element zosConnectDataXform causes high I/O and CPU usage when processing bind files representing structures with very large number of entries. The bigger the number of entries, the more noticeable the issue becomes.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty Profile for z/OS using z/OS * * Connect's data transformation support. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: High CPU observed when processing high * * volume of requests and using z/OS * * Connect's data transformer. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** High CPU observed when processing a high volume of HTTP requests through z/OS Connect and when using z/OS Connect's data transformer. More specifically, the problem takes place because z/OS Connect's data transformer incorrectly processes WSBind files on every request. The tooling used to analyze the high CPU usage highlights com.ibm.cics.schema.impl.ICMImplFromWSBind as a potential cause. Note that processing a WSBind file on every request can also cause high I/O. Furthermore, the level of CPU consumption increases as the amount of data described in the WSBind files used for data transformation increases.
Problem conclusion
Code was added to prevent WSBind files from being processed on every request. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.8. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
