Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Version * * 7.0, 8.0, 8.5 and 8.5.5 Full Profile and * * Liberty Profile 8.5.5 users of * * include/exclude lists * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The TCP Channel's Host Name Include * * and Exclude lists are case sensitive. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Section 3.2.3 of RFC 2616, "URI Comparison", dictates that "comparisons of host names MUST be case-insensitive". However, the TCP Channel's Host Name Include and Exclude Lists treat elements in these lists as case-sensitive. For instance, by only defining 'example.com' in the include list, 'EXAMPLE.com' would be excluded and the following message would be observed with TCPChannel tracing: [10/5/15 15:56:39:694 EDT] 00000065 AccessLists 1 Address and host name not in include list, address: 127.0.0.1 host name: EXAMPLE.com
Problem conclusion
The TCP Channel was modified so that the Include and Exclude Access Lists will now treat host names as case-insensitive. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.12 and 8.5.5.8 and Java versions: Java 8.0.2.0, Java 7.1.3.20, Java 7.0.9.20, Java 6.1.8.15, and Java 6.0.16.15.
