Error description

  • Online cloning generates an extra step after the IMSUPDATE
    procedure. This step is designed so as the target subsystem will
    not have issues due to open logs that were cloned. This is
    achieved by running DBRC, after the IMSUPDATE step, with:
    CHANGE.SUBSYS SSID(ssid) ABNORMAL
    GENJCL.CLOSE SSID(ssid)
    This step is not generated for ISPF if online cloning is not
    chosen. However if the source system was not actually running at
    the time then the above step will end with RC=12.
    The flower box description for this step is confusing for the
    customer.
    //**************************************************************
    //* CLOSE ONLINE LOG FOR TARGET IMS
    //* THIS STEP IS NOT NEEDED IF IMS WAS NORMALLY SHUTDOWN PRIOR
    TO
    //* THE COPY STEP. IF THE ONLINE LOG WAS ALREADY CLOSED THEN
    DBRC
    //* WILL END WITH RC=12.
    //**************************************************************
    This also ends the job with RC=12 which can impact dependent job
    processing.

Problem conclusion

  • Extra step after IMSUPDATE is removed, LOG CLOSE processing is
    Initiated automatically by the IMSUPDATE step if necessary.
