APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • .
    When TRMD is enabled, TCP queue constraint messages may be
    issued for various connections even though there is not an
    actual processing problem. The messages (EZZ8662I for Receive
    queue or EZZ8664I for Send queue) will list DataAge as the
    trigger and report an unreasonably large dataage value. These
    will be accompanied by constraint exit messages (EZZ8663I and
    EZZ8665I, respectively) with the same correlator number.

Local fix

  • Either:

     - Create an IDS Attack policy for attach type TCP_QUEUE_SIZE
       (or modify any existing one) to disable reporting these
       messages.

     - Ignore these messages.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * Data age on TCP connections is not managed correctly, *
    * resulting in msgEZZ8662I and msgEZZ8664I being incorrectly   *
    * issued when TRMD is active. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Apply PTF                                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    The age of data queued to a TCP connections send or receive
    queues is not managed correctly. The data age displayed in
    Netstat ALL/-A may be incorrect. When TRMD is active,
    msgEZZ8662I indicating the receive queue is constrained, or
    msgEZZ8664I indicating the send queue is contrained may be
    issued when the queues are not constrained. The process to
    propogate the data age when data is read by the application or
    sent over the network uses an incorrect location for the
    original age of the data.

Problem conclusion

  • The process for propogating the data age on the send and receive
    queues has been amended to use the correct location for the
    original data age.
